IMDb TV Heads to Roku Devices in Major Distribution Agreement

Deal will bring the free streaming service to the platform's 51 million-plus users

Roku and Amazon usually face off as connected TV platform rivals, but the companies are partnering up for a major distribution deal involving IMDb TV.

The Amazon-owned streamer will be distributed on Roku devices beginning today, in an agreement that will benefit both the free ad-supported streaming service and the fast-growing connected TV platform looking to offer a variety of programming to users.

The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, will give Roku’s more than 51 million active accounts the ability to watch IMDb TV shows and movies, which include library shows like Schitt’s Creek and Mad Men along with originals like teen spy thriller Alex Rider, on their devices.
